The Power Of The Street Magician's Wand. Part 1.
-announcement of upcoming lessons.
The day I got this Blackheart Ironwood Wand in the mail, I spent the entire day examining and riffing with this wand in the studio, it felt like I had finally made it, I had finally graduated. After fifty some odd years of blood sweat and tears, I was Finally a Master at my craft.
I finally received The Real Wand, from The Society Du Magique.
I called my teacher Doug Conn and told him so.
These delusions of grandeur, of course weren't true, It was the Wand, it made me feel cocky and braggy.
My family thought I was crazy.
All that fuss over a stick.
They all just rolled their eyes, and tried to appease my feelings, like they would a child's excitement on Christmas.
But this one wasn't a stick!
It was a book filled with words that only a Magician can read.
Makoto's Wand is a secret wand, but not a trick wand, it is truly a Magic Wand.
It is not gimmicked or gaffed, but it is designed secretly to compliment, aid, and anticipate every need, gesture, and movement of The Street Magician.
The Makoto Wand, has special features, that enable the operator to perform miracles with grace, subtly, and no Tell.
The Layman may examine the wand to his heart's content, and cannot have any clue as to what advantages it may give to the Magician.
They are a secret, because only a Magician can possibly understand the myriad of advantages carved into what appears to be a simple beautiful stick.
Add to this, those features are almost undetectable under close examination anyway.
Add to that, even the wood to which it is carved, has multiple aids to the Magician.
Knowing this, when the Magician holds this wand, and announces to his audience, that it is a magic wand, it has the ability to project the power of truth on the audience.
Because the magician believes it himself.
And this of course is Magic 101.
Beginner beware, if you drop that big money on this wand, that Makoto is asking for, and you get this wand in the mail and think to yourself,
“Oh man I all I got here, is a stick!”
You have a lot of catching up to do in the Magic World.
But fear not, that’s why we are here to learn.
The Magic Wand has always been the Master Magician's most important piece of equipment.
So stay tuned, because in the upcoming free articles and paid tutorials we are going to be learning about Street Magic with wands, and what Makoto’s Wand can do that others can't do.
I have received two different designs with two different purposes and we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both.
We are also going to be learning how to make a basic street wand that I have used throughout my life.
And we will be learning some general history, theory, misdirection, focus, and sleight of hand with wands, and why Makoto's expertise in wand-craft is a gift to the Wandering Magician who creates his own magic.
If you're here, you are either a serious student, or someone interested in how the pros work.
So Makoto, being one of those pros, told me on the phone today in addition to the offers he mentions in the above photo, he also has some other newsletter subscriber discounts and offers at HIS SHOP that he will be giving exclusively for us street guys here, at jimmytalksalot.substack.com to contribute to our tradition, but I’ll let you know about that later.
That’s all for now.
