Great article. And a nice reminder. The first time I watched a video of myself performing I was sitting next to Cellini. He tore it down and built me back up with a seemingly endless well of great ideas I could use. It was hard to take the criticism because I was still young and knew it all. But it worked out nicely and became a life lesson bigger than my show. I’ll remember this article and the memories it brings up when I hit the street again in a couple of weeks. Thanks, Jimmy.
Wow this really made my day coming from you Mr. Elpo much of my career as a busker and as a Magician were thanks to you all those years ago, when we would session together.
You taught me a lot.
For our readers here, some of the magic in the tutorials, such as the big coin production from under the leg and the strike vanish into the purse came from Elpo.
In fact if I remember correctly you started busking professionally before I did it full time, but then you moved on to bigger and better things.
The magic, character, presence and atmosphere you put out there, whether it be comedy or the dramatic or the bazaar, are all world class.
I can't wait to see what you come up with.
As a brother student of Doug from Cellini from Sydini and on through all the Bamberg Masters of old before them it's good to hear you're going to be back in the saddle again.
Jimmy! Stop it! You’re embarrassing me! (And frankly, it mostly came from Doug and Jon R. And in no small part at all, you. God I miss those days. Rember when you and Doug saved my life? I sure as heck do.) You’re a saint and I’m honored by your kind words. 🙏
