Appearing Sponge Balls From Bowl And Wand Squash Tutorial.

This is a short performance of what we will be learning today.

When I’m working the street I prefer to use sponge balls as manip props instead of the usual close up trick. This is due to wind, weather, and other things that can go wrong.

If you’ll notice in the clip they never leave my hands, so the wind can’t blow them away. Also notice that I can work surrounded angle free, yet everyone can see up close or far away.

Sponge balls, generally an indoor trick, now becomes, an anywhere and all the time trick.

This is just one of many manipulation sequences I have put together, and can be a base for you to write your own routine.

The point of these tutorials is not to copy them, I repeat DO NOT TO COPY THEM, but to have a base to write up your own plot, stories, and patter.

The idea for these tutorials is to give you ideas, moves, and sequences to write your own story.

For example, sometimes instead of “No-see-ums,” I say they are clown noses or I give them another reason for multiplying. etc.

This sequence can be used in any part of a show and even as a Closer instead of cups and balls. It’s a great closer for a close up show.

The secret to closing a long show with it, is to stretch out the routine with audience participation, sight gags, play acting and more sequences.

You could pull a sponge ball from a kids ear or a man’s beard Ala Miser’s Dream.

I usually pull a ball from a kids hair and say, “what are you laughing at kid? You had one tangled up in your hair!”

You could even finish with balls from the mouth and finale with a mouth coil.

But these moves will at least get you started with the idea of using Sponge Balls as manip props instead of a close up trick.

Let’s take a look at the tutorial video below and learn the moves.
