A New Magic University, A Word On Magician Formation, And A Special One Hour Tutorial.
-paid subscribers.
Today we’re going to be talking about Doug’s new full service Magic school, entering the Magician subculture, and magician webinars.
Todays tutorial is a live stream webinar with me, Doug Conn, and Makoto.
This one hour webinar is the first in a special series at LSOH.ORG to kick off Doug's grand opening of his online Magic School called Learn Sleight Of Hand.Org
Here’s a Quick One Minute Ad for the webinar.
A New Magic University
Doug’s new school is in Beta right now, but it already has a ton of stuff and people are joining in hordes already.
It has a Free Public Blog and a Free Public Library for everyone (even non members)
The free blog and library resource centers have a ton of magic theory, magic books, and videos to learn from.
Members get:
A discussion forum.
A news section for the site and for news in the magic world at large.
Steam Yard lessons.
Private Member Courses.
Discord discussion groups.
Live stream webinars.
And a ton of other things, it's like a modern day Tarbell/Chavez magic university.
Basically, you will learn from The Teacher that my brother students and I learned from, and you can go on to have your own successful career in the magic industry, like we did.
You'll learn tricks, but instead of just learning how to do tricks, you'll learn how Magic actually works.
Just like in Tarbell you’ learn the science, history, and art of Magic.
You will learn how to live, think, and be a Magician.
You will learn the how and more importantly the why.
Magician Formation.
Magician Formation has suffered greatly in the modern world.
Most young people have no clue that being a Magician is even a subculture.
Sadly many reading this will feel compelled to disagree with me, but only because they don’t really even know what I’m describing.
The Modern Formation has turned into a commercial enterprise. This racket is a small group of salesmen, creating one trick wonders and selling as many as they can to those who know nothing of the concept of Formation.
They sell the how, but they never teach the why.
Insult to injury, these marketers know this, but are more concerned with their bottom line than their customers or worse yet the public that must endure the bad magic it produces.
These salesmen only value the art of magic as a product or click bait, not as a real art-form, or way of life, or a philosophy.
This has all been spawned on by the internet to ridiculous proportions.
Actual Formation in the past has always been done through personal apprenticeship, mentorship, and good old fashion book learning, practice and experimentation.
Knowing how to do a trick does not make you a Magician.
Knowing how magic works, and how to practice and uniquely create the art, now that makes you a Magician.
Being a Magician is a unique perpetual state of mind.
And our Fraternity teaches you how to form this state of mind.
Our goal like Harlan Tarbell, Chavez, The Bamberg Dynasty and all the old ones, is to create Real Magicians, to create Masters, not customers.
The One Hour Webinar Tutorial On Openers.
Today in this webinar our main theme will be -Openers, but really, we will be going over a ton of other things too.
Wand Magic, crowd building, noise making ideas, working slow pitches, amplifiers, coins, and more.
It really feels more like a couple of guys in a session.
In these new school live stream webinars, Doug gives lessons to his students watching and has guest speakers.
Makoto and I were honored to be asked to speak at this one.
The students can ask questions and interact.
The highlight of the webinar is Makotos pre-recorded video lesson and trick tutorial.
He wasn’t able to be there live, because he had some really important business scheduled for that time slot, so he made a really incredible pre-recorded tutorial for us to watch and talk about.
He normally only does these tutorials for his students and newsletter subscribers, I assure you, it will blow your mind, we were lucky to get it.
So if you're a paid subscriber, let's take a look at the video tutorial below.
